Energy efficiency and low maintenance are top priorities for most home buyers and for Spinell Homes. Spinell Homes has introduced an exciting new system for energy efficiency and home comfort.
Spinell Homes' 1400 satisfied home owners have taught us our most important lesson - keep it simple and do it right! Our Five-Star Program strives to do just that.
The Five-Star Energy Rating has become a top-selling feature for homes in the Valley. Besides the interest rate reduction, new home buyers receive savings forever by reducing energy costs.
The ``Spinell Five-Star Program'' consists of five major components:
- Increased Insulation in the foundation (R-19), exterior walls (R-21), and roof (R-45).
- Reduced Air Infiltration - This means fewer places for air leaks and drafts - a ``tighter envelope.''
- 90% Efficient Furnaces - The easiest way to cut utility bills is by using less energy.
- Better Windows - Low-E coated, argon gas-filled and thermal transfer protected windows are used exclusively.
- Ventilation Control - The finishing touch for a great system. Providing clean, fresh air and exhausting stale, used air is fundamental for a healthy home. Our system combines both passive and active intakes through a controlled access port. A fresh-air port called a ``skuttle'' is plumbed directly into the central heating forced air system, just ahead of the combustion heat exchanger. As fresh, clean air is introduced, the central air system distributes the fresh, clean air throughout the home. This fresh air injection tends to balance exterior and interior pressures, providing resistance to inward drafts being pushed in from winds, etc. Also integral to this system is a humidity sensitive exhaust ventilator, which operates to eliminate humid air to keep your home air quality fresh and comfortable.
Also, to assure quality and compliance every Spinell Home receives a final energy audit conforming to the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation which is recorded to become a permanent record for your home.
